Evaluation and treatment for intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
OCD involves unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and the repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions) a person feels driven to perform to ease the distress those thoughts cause. It can be exhausting and, for many people, embarrassing to talk about — which is often why it goes untreated for years. We provide a judgment-free evaluation and a treatment plan built around your specific obsessions and compulsions, whatever they look like.
That's a common misconception. Clinical OCD involves genuinely distressing intrusive thoughts and compulsions that consume significant time and interfere with daily life — it's not simply a preference for order.
Medication, often a specific class of antidepressants at OCD-appropriate doses, can meaningfully reduce symptoms. Therapy — particularly a specialized approach called exposure and response prevention — is also highly effective, and we can coordinate care with a therapist who provides that specific treatment.
Medication for OCD often takes longer to show full effect than it does for depression alone — sometimes several weeks longer — so we set expectations up front and monitor closely during that adjustment period.
