Evaluation and ongoing treatment for major depressive disorder, for patients ages 13 and up.
Depression, clinically known as major depressive disorder (MDD), is more than a stretch of bad days. It's a persistent, heavy weight on mood and energy that can last weeks or months if left untreated, affecting sleep, appetite, concentration, and the ability to enjoy things that used to feel easy. At G&A Wellness Medical Clinic, we start with a full evaluation to understand what you're experiencing before recommending a plan — usually a combination of medication management and talk therapy, tailored to you.
Everyone has low moods from time to time. Depression tends to be different in that it lingers — most days, for two weeks or longer — and comes with other changes: low energy, trouble concentrating, changes in sleep or appetite, or a loss of interest in things you used to care about. If that sounds familiar, it's worth having an evaluation.
Your first visit is a full evaluation, not a quick prescription. From there, a plan might include antidepressant medication, regular therapy, or both — along with practical guidance on sleep, routine, and lifestyle factors that affect mood. We check in regularly and adjust as needed.
Some patients don't get full relief right away. If that's your experience, let's talk during your evaluation about adjusting your medication, adding therapy, or trying a different combination — it's common to need a few adjustments before landing on the right plan.
If you're in crisis right now, please call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. For more on how we support patients with these thoughts as part of ongoing care, see our suicide risk & safety planning page.
